Injuries, soreness, and uncomfortable things
Recently, I've discovered an interesting trend with how I progress in parkour. If I'm injured, even in some small way, fear will grip me whenever I'm doing even the simplest things, and more often than not, I'll be unable to complete simple vaults that I've done a hundred times before(See: Turn vaults). This was a big thing for me when I had shin splints, as it was difficult for me to hang on to the things I already knew, much less learn new things or get better at all.

Yesterday a group of traceurs lit up Sunset Elementary with two back-to-back parkour jams. The first was organized by BAPK, and the second by some Napa Valley guys who wanted to shoot a documentary. A ton of people came and went as the day went on...
These write ups are good stuff.....A lot of the times I mean to do the same kind of thing, but I'm terrible at getting around to it. Keep it up, it's really interesting to read about other people's experiences.

Practice "Controlled Hazard" - expose yourself gradually to more risk, get used to danger, be prepared for when something goes wrong, because it always will.

Berkeley Thursdays at UCBerkeley campus and nearby areas
