Event Description

Basic/beginners training provided, but ALL LEVELS present and WELCOME!

Check here for RIDES.

Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.

Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.

The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...

Minors and Newcomers pls. check this frequently asked questions about liability. =)

Ha! And it's free, in case you were wondering...

Since the group will be small cause of the wedding I want to go t sloat on Sunday. It's where I learned and I miss it.

If we get kicked (I've never been), ccsf is less than half a mile away.

Sticky walls and overall beginner friendliness...

@ Giorgio. Based on your detailed analysis and biting sense of irony, I'm happy to conclude that at least your 'above-collarbone' faculties are in splendid working order! Knowing you, I'll see you out there soon, and in the meantime: xoxo (for purely medical purposes, of course ;-)

Sorry you missed out this week Charles, but there's always next Sunday. Just keep an eye on this thread for next week's location (posted mid-week some time). In the meantime there's Monday conditioning, Wednesday at AcroSports, and more stuff. Take a look at the events section.

Glad to see that you're still in one piece after all that Giorgio. Was worried about you for a little bit there.

*Special of the Day*
Safe'nSure Roll Failure (TA-DAH!)

description:
G. demonstrates how to NOT slip with your back foot while landing from a kong, and stopping one's roll on one's collarbone, compressing some nerve in his shoulder, almost passing out... priceless!

short term consequences:
Exhaustive swearing... desire to puke... taking it easy for half an hour while icing it... major annoyance from Edgar chatter.

long term consequences:
Not getting any younger; anti-inflammatory Ibuprofen therapy, 5 days of rest... then more pullups! (Build Body Armour...)

what are the odds scenario:
I had scheduled an intense social week, which was leaving almost no time to training... perfect!

biggest complain:
Not being able to train/help with the 6 brand new faces/beginners, who came with Julien and Molly... next time!

special thanks:
To everybody assisting and cheering (me up); in particular: Jordan, Ina and Dana

honorable mention:
To Edgar for poking fun at me, and to my wife for putting up with this baby
