well sloat isnt really gated off... they have a open fence all the time for people who want to play b-ball or kids who want to play in the jungle gym... i know they cant legally kick us out if we are not misusing the property... however seeing as when we wall run we are causing marks on the paint that may be seen ass us misusing the property...

i ttink it would be a good idea that some of us (especially the older and more experienced traceurs) take a day to speak with the principal of the school and offer a treaty... i think that we should re-paint the school on some occasions for them, since we do train there and make a mess of the walls, if they let us practice there... along with that we should present a legal document stating that anyone who practices PK or Freerunning in their premises will be held liable for their own actions...

with that said that would be really good for our pk public relations... mayb if sloat starts more schools might follow and we will be able to pk more often... i would like to hear from the rest of you on this topic...

Hey Guys,
Hope you don't mind if I chime in from a legal perspective. I have yet to go to sloat but a quick question, Is it fenced off like Washington High? If so then I would cool it there for a long while. If it is not fenced or gated off then what we do is trespassing. I know we do that at WH but no one seems to care.

That being said if its land that is open to persons coming and using it on weekends then there is no reason for us not to be there so long as we are not misusing the equiptment. Sloat has a duty to any who come onto their property that if we get hurt they can be held liable. It doesn't seem like a lawsuit is something that is in our nature since we accept the risks of what we do. However Sloat doesn't necessarliy know that and as such might have good reason to keep us out.

As for the officer making arrests, again it depends on the status of the area we are training in. If it is open to the public they cannot arrest us for trespassing, or public nuisance. There may be some grounds that I am missing but again I don't believe they can arrest us in a public place so long as we remain legit.

If someone can confirm if there is a locked gate I can give a bit better summary (even site some cases and codes if anyone wants although cops generally don't like you to tell them the law).

Man, that stuff was nuts. K and I were just on the other side of the play structure when the 5-0 rolled up. We heard the sirens and kinda assumed they were heading somewhere else until we saw the lights. It was odd because we were standing in the open- even elevated a foot on the ledge- but they didn't so much as motion for us to come over. Sorry for not doing something, but it didn't seem like there was much we could do- plus since we weren't really doing anything really wrong, it wasn't going to escalate. I was interested in the roof enough to check it out today and it was cool, but I don't think there's actually anything up there worth risking arrest for.

As to the rest of the school, I don't see what's wrong with playing in a playground. I don't think most of our training is going to attract attention, at least enough for neighbors to call the cops. One thing to consider, though, is that even non-marking soles are spreading dirt all over the newly painted walls- maybe we should cool it until at least the kids get a chance to leave marks so ours aren't so prominent.

Maybe it's time for Sundays to visit the East Bay.

not too good imo, maybe we shud just lay off sloat in general for a few months, focus on wash, and maybe even state. security didnt bother us today at state.

that shit was crazy... i think we gotta relax off the roof for like 2 months or so... its gonna start getting hottif we do get on them... When i asked the officers if we could still pk in the school premises bt not on the roof he sai not unless we have permission... whats the opinion of the bapk members??? especially those who train there regularly???

lol, oh my I think rift has most of the details, he did most of the talking. We were graced by the presence of a half dozen squad cars, a police van, and their occupants. They thought we were robbing the place because someone saw us vaulting on the roof with backpacks. We were frisked, searched, and sternly lectured. One guy told us if he had to be called again he WILL make arrests. I don't know how serious of a warning that was. But I think the fact that our story was straight and we had nothing illicit on us helped us the most. That and rift's sweet talking lol

...the Lady from the yellow house did not forgive you... lol!
And you were missing Sloat's top honcho, Ryan... rofl!

Tell us the whole story, and especially in which terms you remained (not prison-terms...).

Good job people! I saw a lot of people helping each other, several people doing some good conditioning, and we didn't get kicked out! How did things go at Sloat? How much longer did you guys train?
