I love me some metal. Specifically some melodic death metal (although normal death metal and thrash are pretty high up there). I listen to a little of everything, though. My top artists are:
1. Alizée
2. Disturbed
3. Arch Enemy
4. Heaven Shall Burn
And then a whole mess of artists tied for 5th (Scar Symmetry, Flobots, Rammstein, Breaking Benjamin, Billy Talent, Otep....)
All That Remains
August Burns Red
Killswitch Engage
The Black Dahlia Murder
Trivium
Enter Shikari (kind of)
Skillet
Breaking Benjamin
the list goes on...
And DnB...and some jazz standards...and classical...and techno...
I really don't understand how people don't listen to music, but I guess it happens. I will listen to just about anything that is played with emotional truth behind it so it's pretty tough to narrow it down to a few genres. I grew up on the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and top-40 (aka 80's), listened primarily to metal (Metallica, Iron Maiden), punk (Suicidal Tendencies, MDC) and jazz (Miles Davis, Gil Evans) in high school, mixed in more Motown, late-Romantic to present day Western art music in college (Wagner, Cage, Reilly, Zorn), more punk/indie (Poster Children, The Strike), after college and then more underground hip hop (Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock) , 70s easy listening (Carpenters, Steely Dan), and Brazilian/Afrobeat (Orishas, Fela Kuti) and even more mainstream stuff recently. And I like singing along to country and bluegrass.
