Event Description

Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.

Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.

The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...

Minors and Newcomers pls. check this frequently asked questions about liability. =)

Ha! And it's free, in case you were wondering...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We do not expect problems or difficulties, but we know fall back locations at driving distance. -ACTUALLY A NEW SPOT MAY BE REVEALED, IF WE HAVE TIME, so get there early...-
Capuchino is a secluded spot, protected from outside view; we'll be meeting on the courtyard adjacent to the back parking lot (west) at 12:00; feel free to take a look around, if you get there earlier, but AS ALWAYS avoid roofs or trespassing into buildings
.

ALL LEVELS PRESENT AND WELCOME!

Thank you for your questions!

Other participants may give you in advance pointers here too, but:

- YES! This is a beginners session; we have newcomers with no previous experience coming every Sunday. This is going to be only a better opportunity, because there will be more experienced practitioners helping out leading the session.

- You will be able to participate to a thorough 25/30' warm up (strenuous as you want it to be, otherwise you'll just get an idea of how most of us warm up...);

you will be able to participate to basic parkour movement type training, with a lot of repetitions and drills to understand and advance movements progressively.;

you will be encouraged and supported to progress by fellow practitioners, and/or advised to slow down if you appear out of control, or unsafely practicing.

- You could try to get on location on-time (even if we might wait a bit for everybody to show up), in order to familiarize with the place and relax;

be dressed accordingly for athletic type training;

have PLENTY of water with you and maybe some nourishing, if you plan to stay for the whole session; even if you may get tired you might learn also by watching others;

allocate enough time to avoid rushing through it;

wear sun-block protection;

- you should be in good health and "sufficient" physical conditions, ideally have health insurance coverage, considering that you are responsible for yourself (as everybody there).

:)

Just clarifying: I know this says "beginners and oldtimers," but is it still appropriate to attend this session if my friend and I have absolutely 0 experience (none, nada, zilch, [insert more 0 terms for emphasis]) with parkour? If this is suited for us, what kind of help should we expect to receive and what preparation should be done in advance if any?
