Acrosport thread here.
Acrosport is a great place to start... but the real deal is outdoor.

It took me two months to decide that I could give it a try (I started in June of last year as acrosport trainee too...), but back then we didn't have a strong, welcoming, beginners-oriented group like we have now...
So you have no excuse.
