This is a participants self-organized session, updated for scheduling purposes from week-to-week.
For the season coming up, we are moving the session to Thursdays (with the possibility of eventually catching up a missed date on Friday, based on the participants goodwill and OWN organization). We'll be meeting at Hensill Hall main entrance (by the two low walls), but we may move around campus, depending on weather and mood.
If you have attended Progression Sessions before, you know who's typically coming, so feel free to hit them up and invite them on a specific date you are going (you may have to befriend them first)...
Now, if you never have, please read the session description.
:)
Session description:
This training provides a healthy and motivated atmosphere for existing practitioners to progress their parkour, and to do this in a safe, peer-reviewed, no-BS and no-sitting around way.
The goal of these sessions is to enhance the effectiveness of our parkour practice, through advancements in precision, speed, control, power, stamina, resistance, determination and confidence. The mean to achieve this, will be perfecting short combinations of basic movements through intense repetitions in order to ultimately trigger instinctive reactions and reduce transition time.
The more experienced practitioners will set a positive example by focusing on a thorough warm up, dynamic stretching, cardio-vascular resistance and precise repetition of movement (see examples). There will be no showing off, rather humbly passing on of knowledge, in a group effort to keep up the pace of the drills and advance together. Also we will try to maintain our focus on uninterrupted motion from drill start to finish (A-to-B). All while keeping safety as paramount.
While there may be different physical or technical skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone will keep an eye out for anybody needing advice or encouragement. Absolute novices, with no previous experience in group training of parkour or other physical disciplines, are advised to consider first beginning with a Basic Training (Sundays).
The perception that while the practice of parkour is fun, it's "a discipline, not a game" will be tangible and is required.
Everybody pls. check this frequently asked questions about liability.

Hey I tried finding you guys last Thursday in HH building but I didn't know where exactly and it was 7:07pm were you already gone on in a secluded spot or something? Can I just get someones number so I can text you to find you easier?
...no, not necessarily. Please read above: "While there may be different physical or technical skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone will keep an eye out for anybody needing advice or encouragement."
Nevertheless "Absolute novices, with no previous experience in group training of parkour or other physical disciplines, are advised to consider first beginning with a Basic Training (Sundays)."
The worst thing that may happen, is that you get tired, winded-up, or worn-out early.
Pls. make sure about attendance tomorrow though (or check with the "might attend"), cause there are many absences this week.
Hey guys, I'm new to the game (both parkour and SF), and wondering if this was meant to be more of a session for higher skill levels?
I'm out tomorrow, heading to the east bay. Thursday is definitely better than Friday for me, but it conflicts with the Berkeley session, which I like, so I'll probably split time between the two.
@Julien: so it seems. People seems to be more available than on Friday nights, and it allows more time to recover for Sunday.
"With the possibility of eventually catching up a missed date on Friday, based on the participants goodwill and OWN organization".
:)
I have a friend visiting... I will be out of town the following weeks sorry all! So is Thursday, the new friday? ;)
