Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.

Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.

The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...

Basic/beginners training provided, but ALL LEVELS present and WELCOME!

Minors and Newcomers pls. check this frequently asked questions about liability. =)

Ha! And it's free, in case you were wondering...

BTW, when my ultimate frisbee team did wave drills, we would do them for 1-2 minutes so there's an aspect of aerobic conditioning in there, too.

Agility drills: I was thinking along the lines of wave drills, but with QM, rolls, one-footed, etc., in addition to the basic bipedal movement and drops/pushups. We can do them up and down the bleachers also. Also more games like sharks and minnows, metroid, fetch (thanks, PKCali).

I think varying difficulty in different aspects of FTL runs is good. According to the Google pedometer (and guessing from the usual length of a track surrounding a field, not unlike the one on the other side of GWHS, our usual run is only about a quarter mile. That distance should be well within normal jogging range for a tracer, though obviously pace and obstacles changes difficulty quite a bit.

However, I think one of the reasons to do these runs is because it brings that variety of problems to the surface- it reminds us both that we have a lot of work to really integrate parkour movement into our regular movement but also that our movement already is parkour since we have default tendencies when on the run, tired, not having stared at an obstacle for five minutes, etc.

All that said, this is a beginner session, we should keep that in mind with all our drills.

One thing you should all try is tk17s wall cat routine, claps and all.
People at Cfm reach failure in less than 45sec when I use that for conditioning.

I can only stay till about 145 so I will be down on the back sneaky wall early attempting it .

Usually short sprints involving quick direction and speed/momentum changes. Ladders, raised nets, cones, even gassers count.

Think runningback type drills. But when Seng gets ahold of them who knows...

What do agility drills consist of?

...yes!
I would want to do more follow the leader runs, but I can see a variety of problems looking at myself and some of the beginners, while doing them:
loosing proper form, loosing pace, loosing breath, loosing stamina.

While the last one (endurance/stamina) may have to be trained separately, by straight running (which frankly doesn't require really an ad hoc group session) form, pace and rhythm (breath) could be trained by progressively performing more complicate, longer and faster runs.

Can we try to progress to 4/5 increasingly hard FTL runs?
I think it could pay back...

I want to do more runs and running this time. Maybe some agility drills on the field if anyone wants to join me (or even if no one wants to join me).
