Event Description

This week we'll go visit our South Bay friends!...
Check here for RIDES, but let's also discuss about "caravaning" there together...
If you drive your car down, please post where you leave from and how many spots you'll have available, thanks!

Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.

Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.

The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...

Because of the longer commute from SF/Berkeley/Oakland, this session will start promptly at Noon and phase out around 3PM...
Please make sure to be there, but also wait patiently (
exactly at the spot marked up on the map) for the "caravan"...
=)

...everybody! PLEASE click on the image below (or here, if you prefer...); it shows a perimeter of possible good areas for practicing (blue spots): we will be moving along that "path", station-to-station (unless they kick us out, which at this point would be a real bummer...)

...or sent them this pic (enlarged) and tell them to look for us, treasure hunt style (running! That way they warm up...).

Right then, looks like I'm going to have to either get a cell phone from my mom or dad, or give out one of your guy's cell numbers. A few of the guys I invited might be coming late, I want to make sure they can find us and all. Maybe leave a big 'ol sign at the red spot, if no one wants to lug around a cell phone(I always find them extremely cumbersome in my pocket...)

...good question! (reminded me I saved something for the days before...)
Check out this, we are meeting at the red circle, but all the blue ones seems interesting:

(click for larger image)

We are probably going to start with a nice exploratory run, then going back to the fountain for some conditioning warm up, and finally work our path around the "stations"... if we don't meet hostility, we'll have probably enough for two fat hours and something... otherwise "plan B"...
;)
