I edit on FCP 6 and use Motion and the rest of the Apple Suite. I edit HD but shoot SD- I have a Cannon GL1. I shoot pretty regularly too.

If I can't make it to the meeting- fill me in on what you are planning and let me know when the next one is. Weekends are always hard for me so maybe I'll find you at a session somewhere mid week? Good luck.
