Event Description

BApk is looking for volunteers to help organize beginner (and other) sessions, and we are offering a free training workshop! We are not expecting you to be a coach with a lesson plan, but rather someone who provides basic structure in the absence of a coach; someone who can guide people through the steps of a basic training session. If you decide that you enjoy being a session leader, we can offer you further training to become a coach.

This workshop is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to come. Even if you do not plan on being a session organizer/leader/facilitator in the near future, you still may find this workshop of interest. There is no experience requirement to attend.

Show up promptly at 12:00 pm at Kezar Stadium Saturday September 8th, and be prepared to engage in an interactive learning session. We will go over the basics including starting a session, leading a warm-up, leading an ‘open session’, leading an ‘instructed session’, doing drills, games, safety, and more. As we walk you through this process, you will be asked to participate and demonstrate. Don’t worry! The theme of this workshop is ‘teach to your ability,’ so you will not be asked to perform, demonstrate, or teach any skills you are unfamiliar with.

Please study this form beforehand: BApk Session Leader’s Workshop. Hard copies will be provided for you at the workshop as well as pencils for anyone who wants to take notes. Bring a clipboard if you have one. Feel free to ask questions in this thread. See you there!
