Bay Area Parkour

Train Hard - Stay Humble

"Parkour is changing and will continue to change.  Some of the change is in our control and some of it is not.  Savvy parkour practitioners will not shy away from these uncertainties.  Instead, they will seek to understand the forces that are leading to change.  By being aware of these forces, we can better examine our efforts in a larger context, enabling us to make a positive impact on parkour."

Parkour Horizon's Joe Torchia wrote a nice, clean-cut, article about Parkour future for the PKGenerations blog. Among the issues addressed:

- Understanding Change

- Forces for Change

- Forces for Preservation

- Learn and Adapt

"For now, while parkour remains fairly unknown to the rest of the world. The focus remains on capturing untapped markets but, in the future, the focus will turn towards innovation and marketing."

"...it may be the extent to which the founders choose to engage, or not to engage, with the rest of the community that will determine parkour's legacy."

favorite part

i like this, too bad there isnt alot we can do about the marketing of parkour

I know the recent past of Parkour was a lot of talking about it, and people getting lost in huge online -often remote- discussions with other people they never met.

The present seems to be just about right: a lot of parkour done, in various way and with various intentions; not a lot of talking and side-taking.

The future will come no matter what, and we shall see.

I guess that something we can do is avoiding getting sloppy and self-indulgent, and remain alert about our ever-changing surroundings and upcoming obstacles. Both, with our practice and our ideals...
