Thank for informing me about the jam on Friday! Sorry for not coming!
School started and had to get all the books, so had several meetings with people from craigslist.
Likewise!!!
Yeah, I agree completely - I was just thinking about it, actually. Every week is too much, and once a month not often enough. Let's keep it every other week. I'll be there pretty regularly.
Also, I think we should start a bit later, around 5:30 maybe, do 30 min warm-up/stretch and after that most kids will be gone from the playground (still my favorite spot in the area ;-)
... they're actually Japanese, but done in that style that makes them look more Chinese. They spell out the phrase "Ronindo," which I came up with myself, a combination of the characters for Ronin and the character Do.
A Ronin is a samurai whose master has died or discharged him, a warrior who is on his own without master or teacher. Generally, this was viewed as disgraceful (if your master is dead and you are alive, you failed to protect him, etc.), but looking at it from another point of view, this puts one in the position of following his own sense of right and duty.
Do is the term for "the way," such as in Tae Kwon Do or Karate-Do or whatever. It generally goes above and beyond just method, and refers more to a spiritual, overarching Way of Life, so to refer to the Do of something is to refer to the mentality and spirit of it. A good way to think of it is the difference between DOING parkour, and BEING a traceur ... the first group wouldn't care about Parkour Do, where the second group would.
So, taken together, the whole phrase Ronindo means "The Way of the Masterless Warrior," which, when applied to parkour, gives you a pretty good sense of how I view things. It's a sort of commitment, and I put the symbol only in front of videos that I think symbolize what it means ... accepting responsibility, doing your very best, holding yourself up to a standard because no one else will, etc. etc. It's in front of my first Lisses video, too.
Glad you noticed! Would you believe you're only the second person EVER to ask about that??
On friday, TK17 and the guys are going to some tea gardens and anything else they can think of. I'm completely free, but most likely, I'm going to join them. If you have nothing else going on, you can tag along. We stop by obstacles and train but we won't do any major conditioning.
Message me your # if you wanna come.

hey how did the documentary meeting go? Would love to hear about how things are moving. I should have mentioned that as well as the GL1 camera (which I am pretty protective of since I use it for work), i also have a very small, very light, very old camera which could be used strapped to someone if you wanted POV shots. Anyway- let me know when you are filming and if I can help.
Ya Noe Valley Saturday mornings sound great Alex.. I just checked Kate Kennedy yesterday and the new construction looks AWESOME! we should definitely train there at some point..
I usually train with Betetta at the Bunkers then, and anyhow Saturdays at 10am I think the park will be full of kids. It is a pretty small park... How about Thursday or Friday at 5pm instead? There are great lights (also for the tennis courts) so no problem seeing in the dark. But, would LOVE to have a regular training there... GREAT idea. Actually, Sunday at 5pm work for me as well. Rest of evenings I'm busy. Would that work for you?
