I lived in Portland until last year, where there was only a small parkour community, and I never bothered getting into it. Over Christmas break, I remembered that I wanted to get into it, and started searching around for local groups. Lo and behold, there was one that Sunday, and after double checking that beginners were welcome, I hopped that hour-long bus ride out to a strange new highschool in an area I'd never been in.
That bus ride has become very familiar since then, as I've been every Sunday since. Thanks to everyone's guidance, I've been learning new things, and each time I have done something I've never done before. The first time I made a ~5ft leap onto the side of a shipping crate, the last time I ran/scrambled over a ~8ft wall. I never thought I could do either of those, and now that I see people doing that with ease and transitioning into larger things, I'm only more inspired.
I'm meeting great people, and despite amazing soreness and a few minor injuries, I am determined to get better. If you see me out there, feel free to give me tips.
