Event Description

Last May, we hosted American Rendezvous. It was one of the largest parkour events ever held in the United States, and one of the biggest parkour events anywhere in the world in 2010. Nearly 150 practitioners came from around North America and even from Hawaii to learn from 10 instructors from PARKOUR GENERATIONS (UK) and the YAMAKASI founders (France).

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting American Rendezvous 2 over Memorial Day Weekend, on May 28, 29 and 30.

You can view the full schedule here: http://parkourhorizons.org/?p=972

Registration will open in the coming days. Keep an eye on www.parkourhorizons.com for more details on the event and send any questions you have to contact@parkourhorizons.co

...this is only one example (which wasn't started by a BApk member). The prominent critic at the time (shared by APK's Mark Toorock) was that PK Horizons didn't trust American resources (i.e. PKNA, but not even APK or PKTO) to set up a structured national training, and support their interaction with Ohio State University. PK Horizons preferred to involve PK Generations and many people didn't appreciate that.

Nevertheless, PKNA has been objectively the best attempt to create an online board bringing the North America parkour community meaningfully together.
It failed because it was too early in the international community development, the personalities involved clashed, and without an all-inclusive physical manifestation (i.e. national certification or at least gathering), or a commercial interest, it's hard to retain the individuals' interest long term...

The current BApk organizers (and some community members) visited Ohio last year and had a very good interaction with everybody, including the local community leaders.

The local community leaders here know and used to interact with some of the old guard from BAPK community.

All the way back to the radio show and PKNA gestapo.  Some pretty funny stories.

I'm staying at the Baymont Inn and Suites, next to the airport. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get around. If anyone is staying out there and would be willing to carpool with me, please let me know.
