A revealing inside look at parkour's positive impact on the "personal lives" of young traceurs.
This sample video chapter, "Life Stories: From the Wall," is part of a longer form documentary: "PARKOUR SOUL" (a work in progress). This chapter focuses on interviews over a five year period with California traceurs of all skill levels. From beginners to the more advanced (ages 13-27) they all share their stories of how the discipline of parkour is having a positive effect in their own personal lives.
When you are confronted with mental and physical obstacles, parkour teaches you how to "think different," how to overcome challenges, and how to empower yourself to live a better life. In the "Life Stories" chapter presented here -- the style and tone is intended to be more "self-reflective" -- revealing a more personal perspective on the young people involved with parkour.
Future chapters can cover parkour pros demonstrating advanced techniques, the acrobatics of freerunning, competition, overcoming fear, "parkour-vision," acceptance from family and friends, a possible parkour roadtrip in Europe that mixes traceurs from different cultures, etc. Use of miniature GoPro HD video cameras and possible 3D segments can be explored.
