Geeez, you are almost closer to our friends at PKCali...
But should you happen to get around SF, don't hesitate to show up at any of the sessions listed here; we are a very beginners oriented, and pretty much everybody who checks in leaves with something more (pk related!) than he had before...
Otherwise feel free to start a forum thread titled, i.e., "suggestion for starting a local pk community", or something... I'm positive that you're going to get good feedback.
