As any given Holiday (when we have a good chance to train undisturbed) we'll gather at the most classic Sunday session location ("est.d 2007").
UNLESS THE GATE IS OPEN, we'll meet outside of it, thanks!
Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.
Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.
The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...
Basic/beginners training provided, but ALL LEVELS present and WELCOME!
Minors and Newcomers pls. check this frequently asked questions about liability. =)
Ha! And it's free, in case you were wondering...

Nice session today... GWHS never disappoints, and we hit only half of the areas today, due to general season-change laziness.
:)
Best place to train rolls in town, transitioning from the astroturf to various level of more or less smooth concrete. All the beginners did very good, and eventually -I imagine- they must have thought they were surpassing their expectations (...well, at least they surpassed mine).
Also I didn't expect much from myself, due to a strained lower back, and I basically ditched the whole standard warm-up (thanks J. for running that), but eventually, after warming up on the side and getting into the rolling drills, I found myself psyched enough to really benefit both physically and mentally from the session.
As general rules:
1.) even if slightly injured/in moderate pain (and within greatly reduced limits) training (or at least moving) is better than not
2.) at some point in life, going one week without moving a bit (and sitting on one's ass in front of a screen, or behind a steering wheel) and then hoping to be in tip-top shape for training doesn't work, and it becomes much more palpable than earlier of that point in life...
:\
Ha! I almost forgot: after the famous "waterbreaks" (<- wink-wink), that we sometime have to take, we might wanna start calling well-managed occurences like the one that happened at the end today "firebreaks"... LOL!
(If you don't get this, you weren't there... ask me about that in person).
;)
