Train Hard - Stay Humble

GREAT SUCCESS - Finally Kong Vaulted a Picnic Table

FINALLY, i managed to kong vault a picnic table width-wise. I am pretty happy about this accomplishment (konging a picnic table is commonly known as the beginning steps to a true kong) so i just thought i would sorta brag :) . I also want to reiterate a very important point in parkour, progression. It took me around a full hour of just planting my feet at the edge of the table and jumping off before i was confident in my abilities to clear the table. progressing from landing and jumping off to just tipping my feet was really important. It boosted my confidence in my abilities to clear the full table. One easy way to get injured is to try something you had never done before and lose your confidence halfway through which usually leads to a face plant. Without steady progression i probably would have taken even longer to attempt this very fundamental movement. I want to thank everyone at the beginner training sessions for helping me progress with parkour since i started doing it. The sessions held on sundays, and i think i can speak for multiple beginners saying this, are amazingly useful tools for advancement. So thats about it... thanks again!

Yeah, and you're 100% right about progression. It is the best way to learn most movements.

Don't forget to keep moving after you've konged the table! ;)

Way to go, Alex! Breaking down a move to progressive steps, working through it and then finally completing the actual move feels awesome. That mentality is such an important foundation of parkour, it's hard to overstate it. Good job!

Congrats on the kong! It's my favorite parkour skill, personally, and I'm currently trying to kong a picnic table length wise. One way I started building a more powerful kong was to put objects in front of the table, from a backpack to a trash can. It helps a lot, but be sure to have a spotter(Or several) to catch you, and always, always progress slowly and safely!
