Event Description

(This is NOT the lower Presidio training!

And we are changing the route from the last times there...)

- quadrupedals warm-up at the Northern batteries (closer to GGbridge)

-THERE IS NO WATER AT THIS LOCATION! PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE AND BRING YOUR OWN, THANKS.-

Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.

Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.

The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...

Basic/beginners training provided, but ALL LEVELS present and WELCOME!

Minors and Newcomers pls. check this frequently asked questions about liability. =)

Ha! And it's free, in case you were wondering...

Whoa, I hope nobody got an actual second degree burn today. Be attentive to your body, of course, but I think a decent lotion or simpler blister treatment will be fine for what I saw on people's hands:

Also, don't forget to hydrate, especially if you were like me and couldn't resist a nap immediately after getting home from nearly 4 hours in open sun.

A lot of us got burned on the hot concrete/aspalt today. Refer to this guide and treat your blisters as 2nd degree burns.

Augh! You're absolutely right. Well, if anyone is able to carpool up next week, let me know, else I'll be at the mercy of my own laziness. All else fails, I might revisit Christopher Playground, which was an awesome experience, and right near a major bus route.

...yeah, this training location is off the more beaten paths.
But that shouldn't be an obstacle in anybody's way.
;)

This is a strong community, in which practitioners help each other not only while training. Anybody that needs a ride should courteosely ask for it, and will probably get a couple of offers.

The uniqueness and beauty of the GGNRA WW2 Bunkers are well worth some extra organization and a little discomfort.

After today, I'm sort of discouraged by the awkward lack of good bus routes to this spot. I'll see how I feel next week.
