Train Hard - Stay Humble

May 15
Thursday. Gym day. This time was vaulting, so I was looking forward to it. In the order they were taught: Speeds, Kongs, uh, the vault where you kind of side kong and walk your hands over the obstacle, and Lazies. The side kong thing tripped me up cause I so rarely practice them. I’d like to change that now since 1) I should know how to do them and 2) I like how they look almost as much as diving kongs :P Maybe a little more so.

As usual after class was a lot more fun, and this time I mostly focused on my kong precisions. I watched my own improvement as I got to move the landing block farther and farther back; I love kong precisions for how it feels the split second you’re flying through the air with your legs crouched under you. So far that’s one of the few moments I’ve grabbed onto where I think, ‘This feels right; this feels natural; this feels smooth.’ I get the same feeling every time I do it, from the very first up til now. It’s great to be able to have a consistent moment of zen.

Other events of after class: I tripped up on a speed vault because I wanted to try my off hand, and was nearly killed (crushed) by the three guys vaulting after me. My backwards alligator QM is improving a lot; I used to have to put my hand down twice because my upper body was too weak to support me pushing back with only one arm at a time, but now that rarely ever happens :] Basically just when I’m truly worn out. At UCLA we did it backwards up the major outdoor staircase. I think that helped a ton (and I can’t wait to go at it again).

Round 12 we left and went out to eat at Canter’s again. This time we had two new people with us, courtesy of King. One was a girl he and Andrew knew (she didn’t do any pk, but she watched us), and the other was a girl visiting from New York whom he picked up playing around Santa Monica beach :P She happened to be on vacation here for a week and King scooped her up and took her to the gym. Never heard of parkour. Good times. Cliff told her about Exo and the guys back in NY, and I really hope she hooks up with them and I’ll get to train with her again some time in the future.

Left those guys some time after 2 am, and now I should shower, but I’m gonna opt for sleep. Then shower.

...no worries, cause everything's cool.
No school, no rules, just jump in the pool...

These are the things that summertime brings.
