Burning Man Parkour

After years of people telling me I should go, I finally went to Burning Man this year. Now that I'm back, I can safely say that it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

For those unfamiliar with the event, it's basically a place where human ingenuity and creativity go to flourish in the desert for a week, then fade back into dust until next year. This massive amalgamation of people (almost 50,000 this year) is called Black Rock City. The most… Continue

Santa Cruz beach: Sun, fun, near death experiences

Today I was stuck in Santa Clara with about 7 hours to kill in the middle of the day, so I thought what better place to go than Santa Cruz? Just a hop skip and a kong over Highway 17 and the beach is there for my enjoyment. Place: Goethe Park, American River Parkway, just east of Sacramento

Terrain: Mature riparian forest, trees and large bushes scattered with open areas between, many fallen logs, topography generally flat but with a few small ravines.

Representing mankind: Me, my brother

Representing nature: Three wild turkeys

"I wonder if we could catch those things?"

"I dunno... Let's give it a shot."

The place was PERFECT for nature… Continue

Don't worry about it. I'm thinking of running to GWHS from the Powell Street BART station. It'll be a good warmup, and get me back into my old element a bit. I'd appreciate the ride back, though. See you tomorrow!
