Time surely flies… we’re here with the last MOTION party for the year. And to kick off the holiday festivities, we’ve put together a gourmet meal of music and dancing.

First, come to Shine at 9pm and join dance instructor, Sat Sarbat, who'll teach a free intro class on how to make the cool moves out there on the dance floors -- great in clubs with any music genre! Come solo, as a couple, or with a group and you’ll learn some great stuff to use immediately.

Then starting at 10pm, the music really kicks off. Check out this line-up of DJs spinning the hottest house tracks from all over the world:

Special Guests:

MISS ZEE – A veteran of the Hong Kong club circuit, most recently performed at the Hed Kandi Party (Macau) and the Beijing Club.
MISHA – Club roots in Moscow, still sizzling from his searing set at last Saturday’s underground at the CA Modern Art Gallery.
MOTION Residents:
DJ INA – Club roots across Europe, and fresh from a epic gig in Los Angeles, her sets are pure dance; watch her groovin in the DJ booth as much as anyone on the floor.
ROBJOB - Club roots in New York, with most recent gigs at Temple and 5A5, his old school style of house music always keeps the dance floor full with swinging hips.

No cover. Free pizza. 2-for-1 Smirnoff drink specials.

** This event is free, although DONATIONS will be appreciated to benefit Bay Area Food Banks for this holiday season! **

Soul, Jazz Funk and Boogaloo!
I am playing with Oscar Myers' Steppin' Tonight (Every Tuesday) @ Madrone Art Bar located at 500 Divisidero @ Fell in SF. 10pm - 2am. Nice Chill place to get your groove on..Hope to see you there!

I first met Oscar 15 years ago when he was in the house band at Jacks on Fillmore, now the Boom Boom Room. All the members of his band were former Blues, and Soul Legends. Most of that band has now either passed away or lost the physical ability to play music at the level they expect.

They were all Old School Musicians that one would expect to see playing in the Fillmore/ Western Addition. But lets get back to Oscar. He has lived in this neighborhood for 5o years, and is the THE LAST ONE STANDING. He is 65 years old and still plays whenever he can get a gig. But now he plays with young cats, mostly white that are less then half his age.

His history;
Born in Jamaica, he has been blowing his Trumpet for more than 40 years. He has performed and recorded with some of the most influential figures in R&B, Jazz and Blues, and Funk, including Ray Charles, John Lee hooker, Charles Mingus, Ike Turner, Bill Summers, Pharoah Sanders, Merle Saunders, and Deacon Jones.

He now plays every Tuesday Night for $3.
See ya soon.

What I like about this vid is that it makes parkour look like it's slowing everything down instead of speeding things up, like most vids portray it. It seems to sacrifice the physical side of parkour to portray more of the (dare I say it) spiritual…
