I'm heading up midweek next week if anyone's interested. A buddy has a cabin in Donner/Truckee so lodging is taken care of. Departing from Oakland on Monday night or Tuesday morning (1/3 or 1/4) and returning probably Thursday night or Friday (6/7th). Ride with us on the north side or just meet up in the evenings and hang, let me know.

It's not that I prefer location over company, but I do prefer having paid a lump sum months in advance for lower per-day lift costs to paying $70+/day to get up the mountain. I mean, if you think Tahoe sucks, you'd cry if you went to Minnesota, but even with hills that only give maybe 60 seconds of snowboarding per life ride, I probably spent more time riding just because it was waaaaaay cheaper (like $10 for midweek halfdays).

But then again, if it wasn't so expensive I might end up dropping parkour in the winter months.

...I find it sad that people prefer location over company in skiing/riding.

Not to be snobby, but if you have skied BIG mountain you know that pretty much anywhere around Tahoe sucks (oh-ho... flamesuit on!); aside of course when you have two feet of dry powder for the whole day, on a nice compact base, midweek, with sun through the light overcast, no-wind...
:)

Or, when you're on fire... as always.

People trump spots in riding sports, IMO.

Good price! Although, I'm not really a fan of either Kirkwood (too far!) or Heavenly... Probably somewhere on the north side this year again.

I already got a Kirkwood pass again for next year. Apparently they still have snow and you can go boarding on July 4th! Sadly I'll be out of the state then.

Anyone given a thought to season passes for 2010/11? Looks like both Heavenly and Kirkwood are available for under $400 right now.
