Event Description

This week we'll go visit our South Bay friends!...
Check here for RIDES, but let's also discuss about "caravaning" there together...
If you drive your car down, please post where you leave from and how many spots you'll have available, thanks!

Session description:
This training provides a healthy atmosphere for new practitioners to start parkour, and for everyone to advance in a safe way. This is achieved in several ways. Because safety is paramount, a positive example is set by the more experienced practitioners. This means you will always see warm ups, stretching, and slow progression of movement. It also means there will be no showing off, which leads to copy-cat behavior and subsequently injuries. Rather, people pass on knowledge humbly in a group effort to advance. While there may be several different skill levels represented at these sessions, everyone keeps a beginner mentality.

Another key aspect in this beginner atmosphere is the absence of media. There are no camera crews or reporters to get in the way or cause people to feel self-conscious. While individuals may bring cameras, they should politely ask before filming/shooting anyone other than themselves.

The perception that parkour practice is (and should be) fun, yet being "a discipline, not a game", is set from the beginning. While the atmosphere is relaxed and can be playful at times, horseplay is discouraged, and teasing, mocking, and cliquish behaviors are not tolerated...

Because of the longer commute from SF/Berkeley/Oakland, this session will start promptly at Noon and phase out around 3PM...
Please make sure to be there, but also wait patiently (
exactly at the spot marked up on the map) for the "caravan"...
=)

That was a fun spot, and I'll bet there was tons of other stuff hiding around that we never even saw.
Good thing Giorgio led by example for us and had us leave that fountain for last. ;)

Like Haley said, you can definitely organize things using the South Bay group here on BA Parkour. Somebody, anybody, pick a time and place, and get out there!

The wall run by the pool is my next goal, and I'm not going barefoot next time.

I hope the squirrel isn't still lying there next time we go back. >.>

I'm sad that I missed this, but I think we should definitely start organizing more South Bay jams (even though I probably couldn't come until after new years). if that's happening though, does anybody know of any other places in the south bay?

yeah. are there gonna be regular sessions in deanza or this area?

I'm wondering, will South Bay have regular sessions around De Anza(Or other places) now, or will we still need to head out to SF every now and again?

AWESOME! 20+ in attendance, the vast majority of the South Bay.
After an exploration run, Jason led his conditioning warm-up, than we started working on low-ground techniques, vaulting and climbing , from the basics up to some combinations...
Then we chilled a bit around the (awesome olympic) pool, were we trained a bit more advanced stuff.

The location is not worth driving out from SF, but it's great for South Bay folks; especially considering that we had several runs on with security and campus police, which would pretty much go like this:

Security: "What are you doing?"
BApk: " Exercising"
Security: Are you with a class?"
BApk: "No, it's Sunday... we are by ourselves..."
Security: "That looks dangerous... you realize that you under your own responsibility?"
BApk: "Yes Sir... would it be better if we do it on grass?"
Security: "Yeah... stay away from that stuff, all right?"
BApk: "No worries Sir...thank you Sir... sorry Sir..."

That worked for three hours...
=)
